It is a very "silent" parasite but it can have devastating AND deadly effects if not detected early enough.

In the initial faze it can be detected by a feacal smear. In more advanced stages it can be seen as calcifications on especially the spine when X-rays are taken. The calcifications will eventually cause mobility and swallowing problems. In the initial faze it can still be treated successfully with macrocyclic lactones.
