POISONOUS GARDEN MUSHROOMS🍄 Many South African POISONOUS GARDEN MUSHROOMS🍄 Many South African garden mushrooms are highly poisonous to dogs and can be fatal. Because it is almost impossible to reliably tell safe and toxic wild mushrooms apart, you should treat all backyard mushrooms as an emergency and prevent your dog from eating them. These mushrooms mentioned, commonly occure in the Western Cape region. Common Symptoms to Watch For : If your dog ingests a toxic mushroom, symptoms can appear anywhere from 15 minutes to 6 hours later, and sometimes even days later depending on the toxin: 🍄Mild/Gastrointestinal: Excessive drooling, vomiting, and explosive diarrhea. 🍄Neurological: Weakness, disorientation, tremors, and hallucinations. 🍄Severe: Liver and kidney failure, jaundice (yellowing of the eyes/gums), and collapse. What to Do in an Emergency If you catch your dog eating a wild mushroom, take action immediately: 🍄Remove the mushrooms: Pull up and safely dispose of any remaining mushrooms in your yard to prevent further ingestion. 🍄Collect a sample: If possible, take photos or save a piece of the chewed mushroom in a paper bag. Identifying the exact species helps the vet administer the correct treatment. 🍄Go to a vet: Do not wait for symptoms to show up.
